I chose to write about "Upcider's" 2005 magazine advertisement. This particular photograph depicts a bride and groom in a limousine on their wedding day, but there are several exceptions that do not make this a typical honeymooning couple. The groom is what appears to be a normal looking human body dressed in a tuxedo, however his head is that of a pig. The bride is dressed in a white wedding dress, as the audience would expect, and she appears to look very prim and proper. The bride is holding a bottle of Upcider's, and she looks very overjoyed and exuberant because of what lies in her hands. The catch phrase at the bottom of the photo says, "Could always sulk."
This advertisement first caught my attention because I love pigs :). But, more importantly, the unruly pig next to a beautiful bride automatically strikes the reader as being unusual, strange, even comical; therefore, it is worthy of further exploration. The audience is probably a wide range of adults, particularly anyone who is wanting to have a good time by forgetting all of their troubles. The advertisement effectively argues that life is too short, so why spend it worrying about the small things, when you could be out living and having fun. Instead of sulking, pop open a bottle of Upcider's and just relax. I think that the argument is catchy and entertaining, and the photo supports the argument perfectly.
